A minor nuisance that I am annoyed with daily: When logged into my Gmail account, the main page shows a “Report Spam” button to the left of the “Delete” button. However, if I navigate to the Spam section of the account, “Delete Forever” is on the right of “Not Spam.” For better consistency, all buttons with similar actions (Delete, Delete Forever, Discard…) should appear in the same locations, regardless of which page you’re on. I can’t count the number of times I’ve reported spam then accidentally marked the same messages as “not spam” while trying to delete them.
The jumping Delete button can also be seen in both the Trash and Compose Mail sections.
Main » LEFT: Report Spam | RIGHT: Delete

Spam » LEFT: Delete Forever | RIGHT: Not Spam

Compose » LEFT: Save Now | RIGHT: Discard

Trash » LEFT: Delete Forever | RIGHT: Move to Inbox

Is this a rant?
Haha. I am sure there are greasemonkey scripts which fix this.

It’s common sense. If the navigation on my site was Home, Work, About, and Contact, I wouldn’t change the link order every time the user switched pages.

I am pretty sure Google could do whatever they wanted and people would still use their products. I agree though, it’s a big flaw and horrible design.

Holy shite, son, 62 new messages? Wow.
Yeah, that’s a good point. Every so often I end up marking the wrong thing as spam, then have to be extra careful not to delete it forever when i go to recover it.
I also don’t like how “delete all spam” is a side note.
Though, Jason has a point. Gmail could send electric shocks through your mouse when you click “send” and people would still love it.

I use Mail on my Mac to check my gmail account. Every other day or so I go in and just mark everything as read. I don’t usually get much spam. You should write to Google and tell them. They might think you are a genius and hire you!

That script, works with Greasemonkey, http://greasemonkey.mozdev.org/ moves the delete button to the rightmost spot. The guy had the same issue you have and made a script for it.
